Cozy it up!
It’s officially Fall and that means it’s time to cozy it up! And the best part? It’s so easy! The best two ways to warm things up this Season is to introduce loads of texture and deep colour! Let’s dive in…
Tip #1 - Add Texture
Texture is the easiest way to adding some cozy touches to your home. It’s time to get acquainted with a few standard ‘cozy’ fabrics… Boucle, Velvet, Tweed and Tartan and, of course, Faux Fur! These fabrics just scream cozy and warm. Look for ways to incorporate these fabrics in various ways (not just pillows) and that will be the key to making your space look like it was ‘done up like a Pro’!
I love an ottoman - so versatile and looks great with a boucle fabric, especially in your bedroom. Velvet pillows add softness and luxe to your pillowscape, so they definitely need to be added to your couch. How about a tweed runner on your kitchen table? And faux furs and sheepskin rugs can be layered on top of other rugs to add that extra fluff.
Tip #2 - Add Deep Colour
This Season is all about deep, rich colour! Just look outside to Mother Nature and you’ll be on the right track. Burnt umber, orange, cranberry, chocolate brown, forest green, fiery reds. It’s such a natural way to add some warmth to your home, just by focusing on the Autumn rich colour palette.
Or… you can also look to gemstone or jewel tone colours at this time of year if you’re looking for something with a bit more punch. Deep purple and mauve, royal blue, garnet red and emerald green. Throw in some citrine and turquoise too. These colours are the deepest of hues, saturated and so satisfying. They always add drama and excitement to a room and if you layer them all up, you’ll be surprised how cozy it all feels.
