Flower Power and a Drop-kick to Winter

Dying for Spring!!! I don’t know about you, but it’s been the looooooooongest winter here in Toronto this year! I mean the loooooooongest! Yes, you may be in parts of this country (or another northern country) where winter lasts 8 months out of the year and snow is just snow and you just move on because it’s winter and that’s that. But us downtown Torontonians pride ourselves in geographical anomalies… we’re usually situated in a small pocket where snow seems to pile up all around us and misses the heart of our city almost every time. Every winter blizzard comes with lots of hype and wind chill warnings and snow accumulation threats… only to bear a light dusting of snow that quickly evaporates or turns to brown mush within hours. Here in downtown Toronto, it’s rare to have a white covered city for the entire winter. But this year is different. Oh so very different. Snow practically every day! Never ending snow. And ice. Oh yes… let’s not forget the ice!

But alas… this is the reason for this post! To forget the ice. To leave behind the snow. To drop-kick this winter into Spring already! To stare in the face of Wiarton Willie himself (that furry little groundhog that predicted 6 more dreadful weeks of the white stuff (snow, not the other)!) and to shout out loud… ‘so long, farewell’ to this very loooooong WINTER!

And I’m doing this by dreaming of flowers. Lots and lots of flowers. A multitude of vases and jars and vessels with lots of colour and freshness! I love the look of plenty. Can you feel the snow melting? I can.

Post script… I just realized we’re not even halfway through February and I’m bemoaning winter! See how long it’s been? It feels like forever, this winter!! Argh!!!

Yes I am loving this! I need flowers, and sun. A breath of fresh air. We haven’t seen the sun, only grey sky and fog here in Norway for weeks. Hope you’re good! Love, Anne

I guess we should embrace what we have! My cousins in Portugal have never experienced a snowy winter! It’s just too bad that our snowy winters are so long! ;)
Big hugs and sunny days ahead, Anne!
