I’ve been holding off talking about Pantone’s 2014 Colour of the Year pick! It’s well into February (I know… can’t believe it myself) and I figured what better way to celebrate this year’s colour than Valentine’s Day!
Super sexy and über feminine! Radiant Orchid.
Truth be told… I was never a big fan of pink as a little girl. I was purple girl.
But I was super excited about this year’s choice because it was so bold and powerful a colour. Perhaps pink seemed passive and pale and stereotypically female (negatively so) to me at one time. Today it’s about positivity, strength and warmth. And this version of pink is definitely not for the faint of heart… I dare you to go bold! How about painting your powder room this vibrant hue (call it your Power Room) with bright white porcelain accents! Or inject some vibrancy into your neutral living room (I know your living room is neutral… no judgement). Large, 20″ square pillows in a solid burst of this colour would be my first choice. Then toss in some smaller pillows or a throw with a lovely pink plaid pattern. Balance it out with darker accents too. Charcoal grey is soft and warm and inviting, especially paired with pale pink shades.
Don’t be scared. Love your pink!
Happy Valentine’s Day to all of my lovely followers. May you have lots of radiant pink (positivity, strength and warmth) in your life, today and always.
