How do you make a moody, mysterious interior more interesting, more alive and more sophisticated? It’s all a balancing act!
Dark and moody colours, warm and cozy textures - these can make a space feel too dark. It can easily become a space that lacks luster and life. So the best way to combat that feeling is to add a few key elements that are lighter and brighter. Here are some great tips:
Add a light base
A room full of dark, intense hues can be elevated from it all being too dark by just adding a light coloured area rug. This one is IKEA’s Bronden Rug and it still provides texture to the space while creating a light base for the room.
Make it sparkle
Adding a key light fixture with lots of sparkle and shine can add some much brightness to a moody interior. A brightness that makes the space feel more airy while still feeling cozy and mysterious.
Provide a backdrop
When everything is dark and textural, adding a large, lighter coloured backdrop can make all those other darker elements pop. Using large pieces of art is a great way to highlight those other pieces.
