What we’re loving this month…
Every year, Benjamin Moore selects one colour for the new year along with a host of other colours that create a palette of colours that coordinate and compliment one another. It’s always exciting to see their new choice and imagine how this colour can be used in your home.
This year, the colour is Cinnamon Slate #2113-40 and Benjamin Moore describes it as a beautiful mix of heathered plum and velevety brown. This perfectly describes this brown/purple colour. It starts with a bold colour (purple base) but with a softened hue of gray making it a heathered plum. And as if that wasn’t enough, it’s then further deepened and softened by adding a touch brown. All of these complexities makes this colour so intriguing, inviting and very adaptable to our homes.
We’re loving this colour because it looks great with all kinds of wood grains and wood stains, from warm walnut to pale oak. Cinnamon Slate enhances those natural brown tones in the wood. It also looks beautiful with black or brass accents. These metallics keep this colour singing. And most importantly, you can add other colours to create a beautifully warm interior like cream, slate gray, cranberry, peach and periwinkle blue.
Always sample your paints! Look at them in different lighting conditions, at different times of the day and evening and in different areas of the room. And then go paint!
We’re loving these four above in particular from the Colour Trends Palette 2025!
Ashwood Moss is so dark and moody, it’ll read almost black in rooms with little natural light. It’s more gray than green which makes it perfectly dark and neutral in the best possible way.
Rosepine is the loveliest of green. With it’s yellow undertone, the green is fresh and happy and looks lush on built-in cabinetry.
Tissue Pink is the palest of pinks. In fact, it has more of a peachy vibe and we love it for dressing rooms and a soft touch for bedrooms.
And finally, our new favourite neutral paint colour is Sea Salt. It has the perfect amount of gray and beige without it being too greige and dull. It’s lighthearted and oh so versatile. From walls to cabinetry, it works well within this palette as the general go-to colour.
