There’s nothing like reading a good book while lounging in the backyard in the summer with an ice cold drink nearby. That’s what I’m hoping to do this summer and so I thought it might be nice to share some of my favourite books! In no particular order… here are some of my faves so far!
The Dutch House
Ok… first on my list is of course a book about a house! The Dutch House by Ann Patchett was one of my favourite books that I’ve read this year so far. A dark story about how the lure of this house became the undoing of a tight-knit family through 5 decades. It’s so amazing to me how our homes tell the story of our lives, good and bad.
Every Summer After
This story was sooooooo familiar to me because it takes place basically in my backyard! Cottage country here in Canada is such a vibe. And I loved how Carley Fortune truly understands this vibe. Spending summers at the cottage and mixing with our neighbours on the lake and in the small towns makes me love my childhood.
And in this case, the book oozes with memories and a love story that you can’t help but fall in love with as well.
Book Lovers
There is no better leading man than Charles Lastra. I will die on this hill… If you’re looking for a happy ending with lots of twists between two main characters that you’ll love each individually and even more when they’re together… get this book! My first Emily Henry book and definitely not my last.
